Understanding the Past, Creating the Present, Imagining the Future
I strongly believe that excellent education can be achieved when the entire community is invested. I also believe that if we can give students the necessary resources, mentorship, and a strong moral compass they will add value and create a positive impact in their own communities. Furthermore, I believe that success is not only measured by what we have learned, but by the impact from the application of that knowledge. My name is Tan Huynh. I am the author of this blog. I am also the President of the Board of Directors and founder of Academy of the Renaissance.
Academy of the Renaissance believes that all students possess unique strengths and talents. Our mission is to help students discover and master their own strengths in learning. Students will be shown how they can use this strength in a field of their interest so that they will feel empowered to create a career path and become leaders within their community and the global society. Students will eventually become part of a unique “academic enterprise” working with industry experts who will help them apply and use their academic knowledge.
In the spirit of the Renaissance, our academy encompasses ideals such as apprenticeships, arts, science, and humanism. Our philosophy of education centers around six “pillars,” which form the foundation of the academy: learning, character development, intergenerational learning, mastery of strengths, community development, and accountability. Our core values centers around integrity, perseverance, and humility.
We hope that there will be at least one reason compelling enough that you will donate to help make this academy come alive.
Academy of the Renaissance is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation formed on April 20, 2018 to establish a California private school that serves economically-disadvantaged students from underserved communities.
